MERCURY TOWERS is a new ultra modern mixed used tower development currently under construction on the former site of Malta Telecom Exchange situated in the centre of St. Julians opposite to Pender Gardens and a short walk to Portomaso.
Launched on plan in 2016 it will tower partially a listed building, The Mercury House, which is to be retained on the site and integrated into the design.
Standing 33 floors high, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects it is the tallest high rise building in Malta to date and was one of the final projects signed off by the late Zaha Hadid herself, only a few days before her sudden passing. The finished project will include a mix of historical and contemporary buildings on its site. It’s unique design delivers a twist on conventional architecture, and will surely become an iconic national landmark.
The current Tower, referred to as Phase One, will house a 5 Star Hotel operated by Me Hotels, a hotel brand of Meliã Hotels International along with a shopping Mall with a large open Pjazza on the lower floors and with underground parking under the whole site.
The rest of the tower will house residential one bedroom apartments, with a small number of these apartments will be managed directly by the hotel under a lease scheme and operated as serviced suites of the Hotel.
Apartment layout comprises of an entrance into an open plan kitchen / dining / living with floor to ceiling glass frontage that captivates stunning views of the Maltese Islands, a bathroom, and bedroom.
Currently being finished with expected hand over of the first finished units in the first quarter of 2022, the project reached great success, and to date there are only a few units available direct from the developer and some re-sales.
All apartments will enjoy the onsite amenities; the various outdoor swimming pools, The Shopping Mall as well as some of the Hotel services.
Commanding such iconic views, the development attracted a demand for larger apartments , which persuaded the developer to remodel a couple of floors originally retained off the market to form part of their private portfolio into fewer but larger apartments with two and three bedroom layouts. These are currently being marketed as Premium Apartments as they are situated on the highest floors offering 200 sqm of living space.
Phase Two will be a prominent 22-storey, multi-use tower and a podium structure. The tower will house larger family orientated apartments with two and three bedrooms layouts and features an extensive landscaped terrace which extends over the podium creating a unique green recreational space.
